Have I ever told you I love my job?!

Today, I had the opportunity to visit the homes of two past clients (also friends).  Both used me to purchase their new construction homes.  Both homes were at the same price point.  Both homes have the same layout.  But; like the homeowners, both are entirely unique.  It’s incredible how different each home felt with the personal decor choices of their owners.

The first home is eclectic and cheerful, filled with geometric patterns, bright pops of color, and reclaimed wood accent furnishings.  The porch welcomes its guests with pots of greenery, a refinished turquoise bench, and a winking pink flamingo rug.  Inside, the eye-catching photo gallery wall in the living room is the centerpiece of the living room.  The plush cushions of the couch beckon company to come in and relax.  The enclosed back porch, with window-lined walls, has been fashioned on one side into an *extremely organized* playroom with cubbies and baskets for all of the favorite toys.  On the other side sits a sewing table with baskets of fabric and beautifully sewn finished products (by Sealed With a Stitch) displayed and ready for pickup.  The high top kitchen table faces both the kitchen and the living room, creating a perfect space for dining and entertaining.  Each of the bedrooms have been decorated with styles according to their residents.  The children’s and guest rooms are colorful and bright while the master is more subdued and calming.

The second home is more classic and traditional, with rich colors, dark wood furniture, and soft textures.  The deep red hue of the entry door sets the tone for the warm colors on the interior.  A deep brown, oversized couch sits against the rear wall, leaving the living room open to guests. The light fixtures are all finished with oil-rubbed bronze and frosted glass providing a soft glowing atmosphere.  The dark walnut dining table would easily seat a large dinner party.  The back porch is equipped for backyard barbecuing and overlooks the natural landscape of the forest behind the home.

Both homes are perfect for their families.

The ‘perfect house’ isn’t an elusive dream that you’ll get with the next raise or when you retire.  The ‘perfect house’ is the one that suits your needs at the price you can comfortably afford.  Then, you make it yours.

As I was walking through these homes today, I was struck with a feeling of appreciation for what I do.  I get to see a house made into a home.  For me, real estate has become a dream job.  Everyday I get to help families buy homes they’ll make their own and fill with memories.

Emerald Coast Autumn

My favorite time of year on the Emerald Coast is here!  If you’ve ever lived or vacationed here, you’ll know why I love it so much.  The water is the perfect temperature, there’s a *slight* chill in the air, and the traffic has slowed down.  If you’re thinking about selling your home, this is… Read More Emerald Coast Autumn

If you are in the market to buy, you have an opportunity to be selective and find exactly what you’re looking for.  Right size, right yard, right price!  Builders are coming up on their slow season, so new constructions are a great option at this time of year.  A few of my local favorites are Robbins Builders, Westerheim Properties, and Avant-Price.

Summer is flying by and it’s almost back to school time already!  When relocating, finding the right school for your children is an important factor.  Luckily, we live in an area with some pretty high marks.  I want to take a moment to brag on the local school districts and say that the Santa Rosa School District is one of the best in the state. According to statewide data, Santa Rosa schools are among the top six in Florida in each subject tested.  That’s huge!

Florida also offers some great opportunities to launch children into a successful college career.  Take the Florida Pre-Paid program, for example.  With it, parents can streamline their college savings and start investing in their children’s college education at any stage.  And, the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program offers funding for in-state college tuition for students of maintaining significant academic merit.

Here are a few resources that might come in handy when researching local schools:

For the wine-lovers, the Sandestin Wine Festival
is a must!  Held at the Village of Baytowne Wharf, it’s an opportunity for discovery. Four days of unique events open up a wide range of experiences from attending wine dinners with celebrity chefs, participating in preview events throughout the year, and taking part in wine tastings that showcase hundreds of wines.

For the athletes, The Inaugural Kill Cliff Destin Marathon and Half Marathon is going to be a blast!  The perfect race for those who want to enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Mexico Emerald Coast and like to be treated as a person rather than just a bib number. The Kill Cliff Destin Marathon will be about the runners and ensuring you have the most enjoyable marathon possible.

For the whole family, The 32nd Annual Navarre Fun Fest is a great way to see what the local community has to offer.  Held at the common grounds of Navarre Park, this event will feature live entertainment, arts & crafts, great food, fireworks, children’s activities, and the Taste of Navarre Seafood “Chef’s Challenge”

In the meantime, the beaches are sunny and the flowers are blooming everywhere you look!  Get out there and enjoy the Spring on the Emerald Coast!
